Tampa Reading Tutor Joins I-Tutor English

Posted on 23rd June 2009 in Tampa English Tutor

The summer is a great time for students to work on foundational skills. No skill  predicts success in the classroom better than reading level. If your son or daughter could be a better reader, why not let him or her work with a reading tutor over the summer!

Summer SAT and PSAT Prep Tip from Tampa English Tutor

Posted on 3rd June 2009 in Tampa PSAT Tutoring, Tampa SAT Preparation

Even if taking the PSAT or SAT isn’t immediately on the horizon for your child, you can help him or her take a small step to prepare for these tests this summer. The creators of the SAT have a free program to e-mail one SAT question per day to students who sign up.

Once students answer, they can review the correct answer to the practice SAT question with an explanation. These daily SAT practice questions are a great way to do a little SAT prep over the summer.

Sign up at: http://apps.collegeboard.com/qotd/question.do.

Tampa Private Tutor Celebrates Student Success

Posted on 1st June 2009 in Tampa English Tutor

As a Tampa tutor, I suppose the milestones in my business are not always measured by billable hours or other metrics. This year two of my students graduated. A student whom I worked with when she was just getting underway at Hillsborough Community College finally walked this spring. As someone assigned to help her get over the hurdle in English I and English II, I am very proud of her. She stuck it out and earned her AA.

It seems like yesterday that we were working together to improve her essays and writing.

Life goes so fast.

My first private tutoring client hired me when I answered an advertisement that my wife saw at USF for an American Government tutor. That was four years ago. I met a student who was having difficulty passing AG at King High School. Bright and easily capable of the work, she mastered the material quickly once we started working together.

This week she graduated and will be doing great things at FSU.

Those are the milestones that make me proudest of my work as a Tampa tutor.  I am thankful to have had the chance to help both of them. If your son or daughter needs extra help this summer, I have two new openings for tutoring.
