Good News for Tampa English Tutor: Student’s ACT Score Climbs 5 Points

Posted on 19th March 2010 in Tampa ACT Preparation

I do a lot more SAT than ACT tutoring for students in New Tampa. Nevertheless, I received some great news from one of my students. His ACT English score climbed 5 points after working with me!

He is on a path to attend FSU’s Honors College.

Tutoring writing for one of my favorite students in New Tampa’s Cory Lakes

Posted on 17th March 2010 in Tampa Writing Tutor

I feel blessed that I have work to do every day. I get to meet some exceptional students and families as a private English tutor in New Tampa. Today, I tutored an ambitious college student from HCC Dale Mabry, a USF student, and one of my favorite third graders.

She and I spent some time reading a book that she was really excited about called The White Giraffe by Lauren St. John. I love to read with a young reader who likes to learn new words.

One small tip to help you time the sections. SAT proctors are usually diligent about giving you reminders of remaining time, but one way to make sure you stay on pace is to wear an analog watch and set the hands to noon at the start of each section.
That way, it’s easy to see exactly how much time you have left to finish any SAT section.
